Architectural Design I (ARC60208) is structured as an introduction to architectural design. This preliminary design module aims to present and explain design through the expression of the perception of ‘self’ and the body, construction, and materiality in terms of tectonics. Students will undertake a series of studio-based exercises and assignments that introduces the fundamental methods, principles and approaches in design thinking and basic spatial design. This will be enhanced with understanding of anthropometrics and designing intrapersonal space with creative exercise involving the body movements and experiences of the user.

ARC60804: ARCHITECTURE HISTORY & THEORY

SEMESTER: SEPTEMBER 2023

This module offers a deep dive into the trajectory of architectural evolution, tracing its roots from ancient civilizations to the sophisticated designs of Western architecture. It combines historical analysis with theoretical perspectives, shedding light on the intricate interplay of societal, technological, and philosophical forces that have sculpted architectural landmarks across epochs.

ARC62404: DESIGN COMMUNICATION

Anchor 1

INSTRUCTOR: DR. FILZANI ILLIA IBRAHIM

MOHD ADIB

ZAHARI ZUBIR

SEMESTER: SEPTEMBER 2023

The module introduces fundamental skills for the appropriate communication of architectural design. It engages different means of visualization and expression of space and spatial ideas through architectural drawings to prepare students with the skills required in design projects. These skills are taught through a series of freehand and constructed drawing held both outdoors and in the studio.

ARC60504: ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENT

Anchor 1

INSTRUCTOR: DR. JAN - FREDERIK FLOR

TS. AHMAD FAHMI ZAINAZLAN

MS. BASHIRA MOHD BAHAR

AR. AXXU HOI JUNG WAI

AR. EDWIN CHAN YEAN LIONG

SEMESTER: FEBRUARY 2024

The module introduces the components of environmental conditions and issues that need to be considered in architectural design. It delves into the impact of human intervention on the environment, both positively and negatively, as well as the relationship between buildings and the natural system. The area of study consists of basic building design, advocating passive design, and designing with nature to enhance energy efficiency in buildings.
